Ramona by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart.

A B-side to their Young Adult Friction single, Ramona sounds a little less like the up-tempo haziness we are used to from TPOBPAH and a little more like the lazy fuzz we love from My Bloody Valentine. Courtesy of Dazed and Confused.

Tisci Tantalizes

No haute couture collection at Paris last week did to me what Riccardo Tisci did. Sure, it was a small show of only 22 looks, but for someone who sides with wearable high fashion and often finds haute overly haughty, Givenchy totally reinvigorated me.

Will anything ever again so beautifully disrupt my accepted notions of ‘fashion’?

The one thing missing from Tisci’s creations? Cloned models. Try as he might, they just don’t look enough alike. Perhaps we can re-stage Givenchy’s A/W09 Haute Couture collection in the year 2053. Then I just might die from over-stimulation.

Look of the Day comes from Charles Guislain (shot by Monochrome Mag). He’s rivalling Sonny Groo when it comes to who I claim as my style icon, but isn’t quite there yet. Looking beyond his fashion forward-ness - he is a Margiela protégé after all, and at 16! - I think the lighting of this portrait is just gorgeous.

In case you missed it, here’s footage from Jun Takahashi’s first ever menswear runway show for Undercover, held in Florence. Intriguing collection (and intriguing music) - will be anticipating the arrival of September when the collections finds its way online at The Corner.

Look of the Day: Jean-Paul Paula, Bryan Boy and Charles Guislain pose during Paris Fashion Week. Other than this image of “The Watchmen” taken by Tommy Ton, few photos are this ferosh. But there is always one question on my mind: where, oh where, was Sonny Groo?

Facing Page: Top Left by Manic Street Preachers, off their new album Journal for Plague Lovers (featuring songs all penned by the vanished former member Richey Edwards). I don’t even know what this song is about… “clean fashioned lines”? “tainted UV protection”? “fragrance my escort of no meaning”? But the repeated chorus line of “this beauty here dipping neophobia” is so fun to sing aloud. Listen; you’ll see what I mean.

“Don’t knock masturbation - it’s sex with someone I love” says Woody Allen.

As part of their Sex Issue, Robbie Cooper has produced a short film exclusively for Wallpaper*. It examines the place of voyeurism in society and provokes a number of interesting questions about the baseness of sex and, at large, our immersion in alternative ‘realities’.

Moncler’s S/S10 showing in Milan under the creative direction of Thom Browne for their Gamme Bleu (‘blue range’) line was held in an indoor pool arena, Luigi Secchi’s Piscina Cozzi. Surely that’s enough to entice you to find out more from Wallpaper*?
